Oatmeal is produced from oats by further peeling and grinding. Usually its colour is grayish-yellow. Depending on the quality the oatmeal can be of the premium or the first grade.

Oatmeal as a foodstuff is known since the Bronze Age (3,000 BC). Archeological evidence proves that porridge was used in food in Northern, Central and Southern Europe as well as in the East. There exists a legend according to which it is necessary to trace the origin of the oatmeal and some other cereals on the sunken continent of Atlantis.
