Description
Ginger is a perennial plant with a well-developed root. It has a quite pungent taste and a sharp aroma. The spice first appeared in India, but later it began to be cultivated on the islands of Barbados and Jamaica, as well as in Nigeria, Brazil, and China. Ginger contains proteins, fats, carbohydrates, ash, dietary fiber, B vitamins, folic acid, ascorbic acid, calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, phosphorus, manganese, copper, and zinc. Ginger is mainly used in cooking, medicine, cosmetology, and also for making alcoholic beverages. The use of ground ginger is limitless. It is added to dishes with meat, poultry, vegetables, and broths. The spice pairs very well with legumes, rice, cheese, and mushrooms. In many countries, the spice is added to sauces, vegetable, and fruit marinades.
