When grown at home, you will not see this shrub bloom. However, in greenhouses, it can form syconias, which are ball-shaped flowers that look like berries.
This shrub is a perennial that is distinguished by its low maintenance and undemanding growing conditions. It is cultivated as an ornamental foliage plant.
Temperature. In summer, the optimum temperature for the growth and development of the shrub is 18-25 degrees. In the winter months, you can move the bush to a cooler place (not lower than 16 degrees).
Humidity. The bush needs high humidity. In this regard, it should be systematically moistened from a spray bottle. Particular attention should be paid to spraying in winter, when the air humidity drops very low due to working heating devices.
Illumination. The bush grows well on a sunny windowsill, but it is recommended to protect it from direct sunlight. In winter, it is recommended to organize a backlight.
Watering. Moisten the substrate in the pot systematically: in summer - twice a week, and in winter - once every 7 days. Make sure that the surface of the soil mixture dries out between waterings.
Soil mixture. The nutrient substrate should include such components as: sand, leaf and sod soil, as well as a small amount of charcoal.
Fertilizers. Ficus is fed from spring to fall. To do this, use liquid fertilizer, while adding it to the substrate twice a month.
Experienced growers recommend feeding the bush alternately with organic and mineral fertilizers.
Transplant. While the shrub is young, it is transplanted every year. An adult plant can do without transplanting, but it must be planted in a pot that is more than 30 centimeters in diameter. In this case, the top layer of the substrate with a thickness of 30 mm is replaced only every year.
