Sterile bandages are recommended for use in cases with open wounds, burns or in rooms with special requirements (eg, operational theatres). Bandage is used only with clean hands, preferably in medical gloves. It is necessary to secure the bandage tightly, because loosely fixed bandage can damage the wound and cause irritation. Fixing the band with bandage prevents contamination and infection of the wound. Care have to be taken that fixation should not be too tight to block blood circulation.
