The American writer Jack London (1876-1916) lived a short but eventful life, which formed the basis of his adventure works. However, the writer considered his best work to be the novel The Little Mistress of the Big House, which differs from his previous books in its sentimental and tragic motifs. 

This novel, written by Jack London in the last years of his life, also has room for nature and animals, an unbridled thirst for travel, but at its core is a love triangle. Events unfold on the Forrest family estate, the Big House, which is always full of guests. The successful farmer Dick Forrest allows men to admire his talented wife Paula. However, there is complete trust and devotion to each other between the spouses. The long-formed way of life of the family suddenly changes Dick's longtime friend, novice writer Iven Graham, who is a guest in the couple's home.
