Amstel was created by 2 friends who were dissatisfied with the quality of beer they could get at the time. The foundations of the Amstel brewery in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, were laid in 1870 on the banks of the Amstel River, the water from which was used to cool the beer. Over the years, Amstel has won many awards for its taste, and the knowledge and experience of the first brewers have been successfully passed on to future generations.
