Preparation steps

Prepare the apples (10 minutes). Wash, peel and cut into slices or cubes.

Make the dough base (5–6 minutes). In a deep bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar and vanilla sugar until fluffy and light in colour.

Combine the dry ingredients (3 minutes). In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder and a pinch of salt.

Knead the dough (4 minutes). Gently combine the flour mixture with the egg mixture and stir with a spatula until smooth.

Prepare the baking tin (2 minutes). Grease the tin with butter and place half of the apples on the bottom.

Assemble the pie (3 minutes). Pour the dough over the apples and arrange the remaining apples on top.

Bake (30 minutes). Place in an oven preheated to 180 °C and bake until golden brown. Check for doneness with a skewer — it should come out dry.

Cool and serve (5 minutes). Cool the pie for 5 minutes, carefully remove from the pan, slice and serve with tea or coffee.
