Benjamin Tree 15
The Benjamin Tree is a popular ornamental plant that is ideal for growing at home due to its unpretentiousness and ability to purify the air.
Care:
Lighting: Ficus likes a bright place, but not in direct sun. Arboreal forms need more bright light, while other types of ficus will do well in semi-shade. However, excessive sun can cause burns on the leaves.
Temperature: In summer the ficus feels comfortable at 20-25°C, but in winter you should keep the temperature between 14-16°C. It is important that the temperature does not fall below 12°C, especially for the Benjamin ficus, for which the minimum temperature is 15°C.
Watering: During the warm months (April-September) the ficus needs plenty of watering and in winter it needs moderate watering. It is important to avoid stagnant water in the sump, as this can lead to root rot.
Humidity: Ficus likes moist air, so regular spraying of the leaves will be beneficial, especially for the ampelike forms.
Repotting: Ficus need repotting every year in March and every three to four years after reaching a certain age. It is important not to choose pots that are too large, as the roots will not fill them quickly and the soil may sour. In order to avoid unnecessary repotting, the top layer of soil can be renewed.
Feeding: Feed the ficus with a floral fertilizer twice a month from spring to fall to keep it healthy and growing.
Propagation: Ficus can be propagated by stem or top cuttings, as well as by scions. This allows new plants to be produced with proper care.
