Each region of Ukraine can boast its own unique ornament, which has been preserved for many centuries, passed down from generation to generation, and depicted on embroidered shirts, tableware, household items, and more.
THE CODE OF THE NATION in the hand-painted glass Christmas ornaments of the “Sumy Region” series was created based on a design by Alona Mamai, who carefully thought through every millimetre of the ornament, investing meaning, a part of her soul, and love for Ukraine into every brushstroke.
The distinctive feature of the Sumy embroidery is that it almost replicates the Poltava style. However, it features a special colour combination — an abundance of sunny yellow. The ornaments also echo celestial bodies. Stars symbolise a higher order. The four-petalled rosette is a symbol of the Sun. Diamonds framed by floral ornamentation symbolise the blessing of the land for fertility.
The main purpose of creating this collection is to preserve the code of the nation, promote Ukrainian ornamentation, and provide an opportunity to pass this memory on to future generations, teaching them to “read” their native and authentic heritage, restoring inheritance and a strong, continuous connection of the lineage.
The set includes 3 baubles with a diameter of 100 mm. The set is shipped in a cardboard gift box (grey or white by default).
