Henryk Sienkiewicz (1846-1916) was a Polish novelist, author of many novels, short stories and short stories, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1905. During his lifetime he became one of the most famous and popular Polish writers at home and abroad.

The story "Hania" was published in January 1876. It tells the love story of a young girl Panich Henryk (on whose behalf the story is told) and his friend, a young Tatar Selim Mirza. Which of the two will the girl choose? Or maybe she will have a different choice?

Together with the novels "The Old Servant" and "Selim Mirza" "Ganya" is part of the so-called "little trilogy". According to literary critics, the theme of unrequited love recalls in its mood the writings of Leo Tolstoy and some stories by Ivan Turgenev.
