Mark Twain (real name Samuel Langhorne Clemens; 1835-1910) was an outstanding American writer, journalist, and social activist. He worked in many genres - realism, romanticism, humor, satire, philosophical fiction, and journalism - creating many remarkable works such as The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, The Prince and the Pauper, Joan of Arc, The Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, and others. "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" is a sequel to "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. The main character, the former homeless, mischievous Huckleberry Finn, is desperate to live by the "house rules" of going to school, wearing decent clothes, and generally behaving politely. He runs away from the hospitable family of the widow Douglas, where he has been living, toward freedom, danger, and authentic deeds. And of course, no adventure is without the participation of Huck's pal Tom...
