Lope de Vega (1562-1635), the creator of the Spanish national drama, was called "the miracle of nature" and "the phoenix among writers" by his contemporaries. More than 2000 plays, 21 volumes of poetry and epic works - such a creative contribution of the artist, not only in Spanish but also world culture. This edition includes two of the most famous plays of the Spanish playwright - the historical play "Fuenteovejuna" and the comedy "The Dog In The Manger".

The plot of "Fuenteovejuna" is based on historical fact in 1476 - the rebellion of the peasants of the town of Fuente Ovejuna (Sheep Spring) against the lord Fernand Gomez de Guzmán, which ended with his murder.

"The Dog In The Manger" is the story of the noble and wealthy Countess Diana de Belleflore. In love with her secretary Teodoro, Diana dares neither let her heart go nor give her beloved to another, for noble honor becomes an obstacle to her passion. Tristan, a clever rascal, comes to the aid of the lovers and suddenly Teodoro becomes a nobleman and a noblewoman who is as rich and as old as Diana. The plays of Lope de Vega have passed the test of time with honor and are now a success on many theatrical stages.
