Pilsner Urquell is considered the ancestor of the "Pilsner" variety, which refers to a golden-colored beer brewed using the bottom-fermentation method. It is also called the "Pilsner's Spring" in homage to the crystal clear soft water from the artesian springs in the Czech city of Pilsen. It was there that Pilsner Urquell beer was born in 1842, which has been pleasing the most demanding connoisseurs of the intoxicating drink for centuries. Pilsner Urquell owes its unique taste and aroma to fragrant Žatec hops, top-class yeast and Moravian barley. And the saturation of the wort is achieved thanks to a technology that has not changed since 1842: triple boiling in copper vats over an open fire.​
