Marjoram is a perennial plant whose homeland is considered to be the Mediterranean. It grows wild in North Africa and Asia Minor. The ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans attributed extraordinary medicinal properties to this plant and believed that at least one or two bushes should grow in the garden bed under the window. With the help of this plant, they flavored vegetable dishes. In the Middle Ages, marjoram was known and appreciated in Europe, grown in those regions where the climate allowed, and also bred indoors to enjoy its beauty and aroma.

Майоран - название растений из семейства Яснотковых. Его родиной являются страны Средиземноморья и Малой Азии. Имеет горьковато-острый вкус и сладковатый аромат. В кулинарии используют листья и цветочные почки растения в поджаренном, свежем и сушеном виде. Его добавляют в всевозможные соусы, супы, рыбные и мясные блюда, овощные салаты. Майоран заменяет орегано в спагетти и пицце. Из цветков и листьев майорана делают эфирное масло.
